Gather round Mateys, and get ready to set sail for a Makerspace afternoon of creativity, collaboration, and exploration.  Create your own map, design a boat that will float, make amazing treasure, or simply come up with your own creation!!
What is Makerspace? Makerspaces can be found all over the world in libraries, schools, and other public spaces.  They are collaborative spaces, focused on exploration and creativity, rather than a specific set of tasks or learning outcomes.  There is no one right way to do a Makerspace, and there are no failures when exploring one.  The heart of Makerspace is the maker mindset of creating something out of nothing and exploring your own interests.

Our Makerspace is open to ALL, from children to adults.  Children under 12 required adult supervision.  Staff are on-site and available for ideas, questions and mentorship.  Different tools (3D printer, sewing machines, electronics, button maker, coding robots) will be highlighted each session and may be available upon request.  If you don't see something, ask!!  Depending on availability and experience, we may be able to get it out for you.

The following guidelines are in place for Fall programs until further notice:

  • Masks are strongly encouraged during library programs. You may bring your own or pick one up at the library.
  • Stay at home if you have symptoms of Covid-19 or any other illness.
  • Please be aware that as the public health situation changes, the library may need to adjust. We’ll do our best to let you know as soon as we make changes.
