Volunteering

Volunteering

Our volunteers are extremely important to the library, and play a crucial role in aiding the staff to fulfill our service commitment to the community. There are several ways to volunteer for the library involving various levels of commitment. If you have spare time, and would like to become a volunteer, please contact the library at 403-652-2917.

You can:

  • Volunteer doing in-library tasks on a periodic basis
  • Volunteer to help out with the Summer Reading Program if you are a student in middle school or high school
  • Join the Friends of the High River Library
  • Join the Board

In-Library
Some of the tasks that the volunteers undertake are: dusting, shelving returned items, sorting mail, assisting in preparing/conducting programs, fundraising, and putting up posters in the community.

Summer Reading Program
We're always looking for students to help plan the summer reading program and to help out with activities. Ask us how!

Friends of the High River Library
The Friends of the Library fundraise and advocate to support the library's programs and services. New projects and new members are always welcome!
Activities can include selling raffle tickets, participating in the silent auction, and working at the charity casino.

Board of the High River Library
Trustees are expected to be regular users of the library and encourage membership, attend board meetings and actively take part in decision making, serve on committees and participate in fundraising.
